Hint of Lime
What’s the sitch with the versatility of Tostitos “Hint of Lime” chips?
Is there lime on them or not? What are you hinting at Tostitos?
I know the name is enticing, but don’t let it suck you in. Tostitos chips with a “Hint of Lime” are a mediocre chip. I want to let the flavor of a good salsa stand out when pairing it with tortilla chips. The powdery “hint of lime” coating generally takes away from a natural, fresh salsa experience. On the other hand, if I wanted a chip that can stand alone, I would go with a Dorito, SunChip, or even a Lay’s flavor, which are designed to please even the most adventurous palette without any additional dip.
The Tostitos “Hint of Lime” chips are really only the right call when you have a subpar dip or salsa that you accidentally bought and need to get rid of. The “hint of lime” can overpower the otherwise bland flavor experience of your lame dip, helping you out of a potentially disgusting or wasteful situation. But if your salsa is delicious, or you are looking for a chip with enough flavor to satisfy you by itself, Tostitos “Hint of Lime” are never the right call. When will Tostitos get the hint?
